Privacy.

Vaqlo is built so that nothing you record has to leave your Mac. There is no Vaqlo server, no account, and no analytics.

Where your data lives

Recordings: Audio, transcripts, summaries and metadata are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Vaqlo on your machine.
Audio lifecycle: After transcription, audio moves to the Trash and auto-deletes after a configurable number of days. Transcripts are kept until you delete them.
Transcription & summaries: Run on-device (whisper.cpp and a local LLM). No audio or text is uploaded.
Models: Downloaded once directly from Hugging Face to your machine. That download is the only outbound network request Vaqlo makes, besides update checks.
Calendar: Read locally via EventKit to label recordings with meeting titles and participants. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Updates: Vaqlo checks panic-kit.com/vaqlo/appcast.xml for new versions. That request contains no personal data.
Telemetry: None.

Your responsibility

Recording laws vary

Recording conversations may require the consent of the other participants depending on where you and they are. Vaqlo always shows a recording indicator in the menu bar; you decide when and whom to record.
