vaqlo is a one-person project. the fastest way to get help or report a bug is github or email.
FIRST RUN
- PERMISSIONS
- vaqlo asks for Microphone and System Audio Recording (to capture calls), plus optional Notifications, Calendar, and Accessibility. Grant them in the onboarding screen or System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- MODELS
- open Settings → Models and download a Whisper model (and an LLM if you want summaries). They download once and stay on your mac.
- RECORDING
- press ⌥⌘ R, use the menu-bar icon, or the Control Center toggle.
COMMON QUESTIONS
- NO SYSTEM AUDIO?
- System Audio Recording needs macOS 14.4+ and its permission. Re-check it in Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording.
- DICTATION TOOL KEEPS TRIGGERING?
- When it first grabs the mic, pick “Never”, or add it under Settings → meeting detection → trigger apps and set it to Ignore.
- WHERE ARE MY NOTES?
- In the app timeline, and exported as markdown to the folder you choose in Settings.
- UPDATES
- vaqlo checks daily and via “Check for Updates…” in the menu.
